DESCRIPTION:
APW - Waltham, American Watch Co, Model 1862 first run assembled from Nashua Watch Co material, 19J, 20S, silver HC recase of European manufacture, white enamel SS dial, KWKS, fully capped lever escapement, gilt mvt, s#50042 with Nashua s#163 located internally. A historically important watch that represents Waltham's first production derived from their acquisition of the Nashua Watch Company in 1862. These first run 20 size movements were comprised directly of Nashua Watch Co. produced components and these movements retain their Nashua Watch Co. assembly numbering internally and were engraved on their back plate with "American Watch Co" signature and serial numbers starting with 50,001. Disassembly of this example reveals typical Nashua Watch Co. construction and consistent Nashua Watch Co. numbering in multiple areas, and notes from our disassembly are included in the condition report below.
